This is a short introduction on writing Pokémon fan fiction.
Over time, I'll try to expand it as I get the opportunity and inspiration.
The first thing to understand when writing Pokémon fan fiction is
knowing how to write. There are many fanfic writers who have good
ideas, but their writing doesn't turn out because they don't follow the
basics. You need to put effort into learning how to put your language into
words that others will find easy to read and understand and enjoy.
The next thing to understand when writing Pokémon fanfics is
knowing how to write fiction. I get the impression that many aspiring
authors get an inspiration for an idea, start writing chapter one, then when
they find the time, move on to chapter two, and finally give up after the
story reaches a dead end in chapter three. Guys, that's not the way. Between
the spark of an idea and the finished work there are things you can do to help
you develop the idea into something other people will like to read.
The final thing to understand is how to write Pokémon fan
fiction. You can't ignore the work that's gone before you and the lessons
we've learned if you want to come up with something your readers will
like. Understand the Pokémon world. Understand the genres. Understand
the lessons the fanfic community has learned and improve faster.
Read on to explore each of these issues in more depth. You don't have to
read the sections in order. You can skip to the bits that interest you and
come back to the rest later. Feel free to send me an e-mail if you have any
suggestions for improving this advice.
