Why Raichu?

Many Pokémon sites are named after a Pokémon or Pokémon character.
I chose Raichu. Why Raichu?
It's not as cute as Pikachu, or sweet as Jigglypuff.
It's not as legendary as Lugia, or noble as Mew.
Perhaps it's because Pikachu was made popular by the TV series, and Raichu is the evolved form of Pikachu, and therefore bigger, stronger and more majestic.

I love Pikachu's battles with Raichu in Lt Surge's Gym.
That arrogant creature thought he'd never be beaten.
But Pikachu defended his honour!

Then there was a Raichu in Stage Fight.
That was quite a different character, all timid and shy.
But Ash and company helped out in the end.

While I never managed to get a Raichu Pokémon card in real life, at least I managed to get one or two on the Game Boy version of the card game. I'm sure it helped me win a few rounds.

Finally, my Raichu and I had a great time together on my Pokémon Blue. We fought the Elite Four twelve times together and triumphed every time.
(Well, maybe we had to reset and try again from time to time.)
Even if I restart the game one day, I'll never forget it.
